Therapeutic Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy

All forms of advanced therapeutic intervention relating to gastroscopy and colonoscopy are available.

These include:

  • treatment of bleeding (clips and loops, gold and silver probes, banding and argon plasma coagulation may be used)
  • stricture dilatation (for Crohn’s disease, anastamotic or radiation induced strictures)
  • placement of self expanding metal stents to prevent obstruction
  • polypectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection for removal of small or large lesions, including polyps

Sedation or general anaesthesia may be used for procedures and patients will usually need to be assessed prior to their procedures.
