Double balloon enteroscopy
Double balloon enteroscopy or the "Double Bubble" as it is also known is an exciting new endoscopic technique that allows pan-enteric small bowel examination.
The Double-Bubble is often used to assess abnormalities found at capsule endoscopy or following abnormal small bowel investigations requiring further assessment.
Apart from improving diagnosis (since biopsies can be taken) the Double-Bubble also allows therapy to be performed. This may include treatment of bleeding (using argon plasma coagulation or endo-clips), polypectomy and dilatation of strictures.
